If Paul Pickard is already booked for a specific modeling portfolio or fashion photography shoot he will try and recommend another photographer he knows and trusts. To become a fashion model is not about simply having a studio photographer shoot a glamour portfolio in one studio portfolio session. In order to get work as a fashion model or to get work as a glamour model it is important to build a varied modeling portfolio over a period of time varying location and the style of modeling photography in order to maximise potential work. This gives the model more options for modeling jobs increasing chances of modelling work, be it fashion photography, glamour modeling, catwalk modeling at the London Fashion week, or Birmingham NEC Clothes Show, hair model, nude model, lingerie model, alternative model,or any number of promotional modeling opportunities at the NEC in Birmingham or International Centres in London, Manchester and Telford

How to become a photographic model – first decide what photographs you do not want to do, then decide what type of modelling would suit your look, are you tall enough for runway modeling, to join the catwalk models? Before approaching a model agency consider what models they have on their books already, are you of a similar look to these models or would be better suited to another style of modelling. Do not spend hundreds of pounds having a studio photography session without first considering the purpose of the shoot. Most professional models have a portfolio or book, and in their book are a large mix of styles of photography and these pictures will have been shot over a number of weeks, months or years and will not have been shot in one day in one single studio. The idea of your portfolio or book is to present yourself in the best possible way with the largest number of different looks and scenarios to give you the most opportunity to get paid modelling work. These photographs will usually have been shot on a variety of locations around the country both indoor and outdoor, and include some of the following in the portfolio: portrait photographs, headshots, glamour photography, fashion modelling, runway modelling, body part models, bridal model, hair model, gothic model, lingerie modelling, swimwear model, print magazine model, nude model, fitness model, stock photography model, adult model
Model agencies will need to see how you look naturally, and not how look after photoshop or with extensive make up on . good skin is essential and an ability to take instruction as well as create good poses and shapes
